Why I listen to the landscape

A camera remembers what a place looks like. Sound remembers how it feels.

A clear mountain stream running between stones and green grass

Illustrative editorial travel story. The route and narrative are ideas, not a record of a confirmed trip or current conditions.

A photograph can hold a mountain, but it cannot hold the wind. It cannot tell you how a forest changes after rain, or how a stream sounds in the dark.

That is why natural sound belongs at the heart of these journeys. Not as background, but as a story of its own.

This sample field note is a reminder to pause before pressing record. Listen first. The place will tell you what matters.
